Adding images to a post
How to generate or upload an image in a post's Media panel, how it attaches to that post, and how the Image Style Guide shapes every AI image.
When you ask the writing chat for an image with @image, you get subject concepts — ideas for what the image could show. That is the brainstorm, not the picture. To actually create and attach an image, you work in the post's Media panel.
Here is how the pieces fit together:
@imagebrainstorms what the image is about (the subject).- The Image Style Guide controls how every AI image looks (your visual style).
- The Media panel is where you generate or upload the image and attach it to the post.
Open the Media panel
Open the post you're working on. Below the editor you'll see a section titled Media. Everything below — generating, uploading, and your attached files — lives here, and it always applies to this post.
Generate an image with AI
- In the Media panel, click Generate image with AI.
- In the Describe your image box, type what you want to see (for example, "minimalist illustration, blue tones, professional feel").
- Include image style guide and Include post content are on by default — leave them to apply your saved visual style and let the image reflect what your post is about, or untick either one.
- Need inspiration? Click Tips & ideas for prompt suggestions.
- Click Generate.
When the image is ready, it's automatically saved and attached to the current post — it appears in the thumbnail grid in the Media panel. You can generate again to get a different option.
Upload your own image or video
You can attach your own files instead of (or alongside) a generated image.
- In the Media panel, click the upload area, or drag files onto it.
- Choose one or more files. They upload and attach to the current post.
Supported types and limits:
- Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP
- Videos: MP4, MOV (QuickTime), and WebM
- Size: up to 50MB per file
Both uploaded and AI-generated files attach only to the post you have open. Click any thumbnail to open it full-size, where you can download it or remove it from the post.
Set your visual style with the Image Style Guide
The Image Style Guide is a document you author in My Docs. It defines your visual style — brand colors, the overall look, and any preferences you want carried through. When you tick Include image style guide, those guidelines are applied to every AI image you generate, so your images stay consistent.
To set it up:
- Go to My Docs.
- Open the Image Style Guide and add your colors, style, and preferences.
If you haven't created an Image Style Guide yet, the Include image style guide option stays disabled until you add one in My Docs.
In short
Use @image to decide what the image shows, your Image Style Guide to lock in how it looks, and the Media panel to actually generate (or upload) it and attach it to your post.
