The Signals page: Saved, Trends, and Readwise
How to use the Signals page and its three tabs — Saved, Trends, and Readwise — to gather article and topic ideas and turn them into posts.
Signals is where Wren gathers the raw material for your posts: what's trending, what you've been reading, and anything you've saved for later. Open it from the sidebar. The page has three tabs — Saved, Trends, and Readwise — and it opens on Saved by default.
Every item Wren collects can be turned into a post idea with one click, and your signals feed Wren's idea generation behind the scenes.
Saved
This is your manual reading list — articles you've deliberately set aside. There are two ways to add to it:
- Paste a URL. Drop an article link into the box at the top of the tab and click Save (or press Enter). Wren pulls in the title and details for you.
- Use the Wren browser extension. While reading any page, use the extension's Save to Wren action to add it without leaving the page.
Each saved article is scored for fit (more on scores below), and you can turn any of them into a post idea.
Trends
Trends surfaces topics that are gaining attention right now, pulled from Hacker News, GNews, and Google Trends. Use it to spot timely subjects worth weighing in on before the moment passes.
Trend cards carry the same controls as your other signals — a status picker, Create Idea, and fit scores. One difference: on the Trends tab the third score is Trending, rather than Timeliness. Trends are time-sensitive, so they auto-archive after about 10 days if you don't act on them.
Readwise
If you use Readwise Reader, connect it to bring your reading into Wren. You'll find two kinds of items here:
- Tagged — articles you tag
wreninside Readwise Reader. These are sticky and stay until you act on them. - Suggested — AI-picked articles from your saved Readwise library, refreshed daily. Suggested items expire after about two weeks if you don't act on them.
To get started, connect Readwise in Settings → Connected Accounts. Once connected, Wren syncs automatically every day; the Sync now button pulls fresh items on demand. To add more, just tag a document wren in Reader.
Working with items
Items in Saved and Readwise share the same controls:
- Scores — each item shows three ratings out of 10: You (how well it fits your interests), Audience (how relevant it is to your readers), and Timeliness. Hover a score for the reasoning.
- Status — set an item to New, To Ideate, Has Idea, or Dismissed to track where it stands.
- Create Idea — turn any article into a post idea. The new idea opens in your Idea Bank, linked back to its source.
- Open and Delete — open the original in a new tab (the label matches the type, e.g. "Open article" or "Open Video"), or remove an item from your list.
Use search, filters, and saved views in the table toolbar to focus on the items that matter most.
